- Mechanics & Features
- The Shapella upgrade will be activated on network epoch 194048 at around 22:27pm UTC (link)
- The upgrade will enable the withdrawal of staked ETH for the first time from the Beacon Chain (EIP-4895) – there are approximately 18+ million ETH staked in the Beacon chain contract
- Shapella upgrade combines changes to the execution layer (Shanghai), consensus layer (Capella) and the Engine API
- The upgrade will also have other network improvements aimed at optimizing transaction fees for certain activities
